Licensed Associate Counselor
Hi, I’m Julie Reeves, LAC, a trauma-informed mental health therapist and developmental brain mapping specialist with more than 12 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families impacted by trauma, adversity, and complex life experiences.
My work is grounded in the belief that behavior makes more sense when we understand what has happened beneath the surface. I am especially passionate about helping clients, parents, and caregivers understand the “why” behind emotional responses, behaviors, and relationship patterns so we can move away from blame and toward greater compassion, clarity, and hope.
I use the Neuro-Sequential Model of Therapeutics© (NMT™), a developmentally informed, brain-based approach that looks at how early experiences and trauma can shape brain development, emotional regulation, behavior, and relationships. As an independently NMT™ Phase I Trained and Certified clinician, I provide developmental brain-mapping assessments and individualized treatment recommendations designed to better match support and intervention to each client’s developmental needs.
My clinical experience includes child welfare, foster care and adoption, family preservation, infant and early childhood mental health, intensive outpatient treatment, group therapy, and work with individuals who have complex trauma histories or have not responded well to more traditional therapy approaches.
I take a warm, collaborative, and strengths-based approach to trauma therapy. Rather than focusing only on symptoms or behaviors, I look at the whole person, including nervous system regulation, developmental readiness, relationships, safety, and the impact of past experiences. My goal is to help clients and families better understand what their nervous system may be communicating and develop practical tools that support regulation, connection, and healing.
I hold a master’s degree in Infant Mental Health from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I am a Licensed Associate Counselor in Arizona.
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing is more possible when people feel truly understood. I strive to create a calm, welcoming therapeutic space where children, teens, adults, and families feel safe, validated, and empowered to grow at a pace that respects both the mind and the body.
If you are looking for trauma-informed therapy, developmental trauma support, child and family counseling, or developmental brain mapping in Arizona, I would be honored to help you better understand what is happening beneath the behavior and identify a path toward greater regulation, connection, and healing.
